I am Ellen, a freelance fashion designer, maker and teacher, based in Rotterdam. I’ve always had a passion for sewing and making my own clothes, and started sewing at a young age.

In 2004 I started at Willem de Kooning academy where I learned how to create collections, and how to translate my ideas and designs into patterns and garments. Over the years I have gained further knowledge in this field by taking several classes and courses, and of course, through extensive work experience.

Today, I have a wide range of experience in the fashion and textile industry, encompassing (technical) fashion design, sewing and pattern making, repair and upcycling, and education. And I am still not done learning!

What I enjoy most is combining all these different areas, and blending my creativity with my practical technical skills.
